Though I’ve photographed these wonderful people several times, this time was different.
Familiarity and comfort, combined with a picturesque backdrop, led to my ideal style of family photography.
Minimal staging. Lots of exploring. Children playing.
No perfected pose. Wind in hair. Genuine interaction.
These are real moments. Nothing contrived here. They walk, I watched… and quietly clicked.
Shot from the car window, I loved watching the landscape change as we drove to
where the road literally ended and was covered by sand.
“And forget not the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair” – K. Gibran
“Tell me to come to you on the water”
“Come” he said. – Matthew 14:28-29
“Look at that sea, girls–all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen.
We couldn’t enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.”
– L. M. Montgomery
“Had I told the sea
What I felt for you,
It would have left its shores,
Its shells,
Its fish,
And followed me.” – N. Quabbani
Thank you, Matt & Katy. Truly… thank you.
With gratitude,
Kate
